Cairns Aquarium

The new Cairns Aquarium is located right here in Cairns, and is a must-see for any traveller interested in the aquatic life of our planet. This aquarium was opened in 2017 and offers visitors some fascinating glimpses into otherworldly environments and creatures that can be found near or on top of Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

The mission of this aquarium is to encourage the protection of this World Heritage-listed ecosystem in Far North Queensland. They do so by hosting educational programs, engaging with visitors through exhibits on display and discussing topics related to local touchpoints like municipal pools or libraries for water safety awareness, among other things.

The Cairns Aquarium, situated at 5 Florence Street, Cairns, is home to more than 15,000 animals in 10 different ecosystems and 70 habitats. These include mangroves and tropical rainforests as well river systems located near the Great Barrier Reef or within it - this makes for an exciting experience where you can see these various locations up close.

Visit the Cairns Aquarium and see deadly marine stingers; learn about how our oceans are crashing thanks in part due to climate change with an interactive exhibit on display. While exploring this billabong river system, you may also come across barramundi or crocodiles. And if you're lucky enough (or unlucky), perhaps one day your tour guide will bring out their hammerhead sharks so that everyone can get up close and personal viewings of these terrifying but fascinating creatures.

Cairns Aquarium is a must-see for any visitor to the region. Visitors can discover various fish and other sea creatures inside informative tanks come to face with scalloped hammerhead sharks in their natural habitat outside of cages - all while being educated on what they're doing here.

Also, Cairns Aquarium has an on-site Italian restaurant that offers delicious food to eat while you're visiting.

This aquarium is a great place to take the kids and learn about animals in their natural habitats. From sharks, rays, or saltwater fish - if you live underwater, you will find them here. Several educational panels help visitors better understand what life means under our sea waves and how we can protect these precious creatures for future generations by doing nothing else than preserving water quality by reducing pollution levels whenever possible.

The beautiful Cairns Aquarium is a must-see if you're in town. They have an impressive fleet of submarines, presentations and tours that will make your family excited to go out on the ocean for some exploration.
